horror films--they just make me laugh. just special effects.

just thought i'd start a thread about favourite movies.
mine, in no particular order, are .... alien - a great visual film.
the chest-bursting scene is still great to watch, no matter how many times i've seen the movie.

so at the phd today with my wife and me, and in slowly getting to the heart of matters (like peeling an onion if you ask me), the dialogue in part went like this: .
phd: if it came down to it, would you take a bullet in the head instead of giving up membership in your organization?
wife: absolutely, i would die for my faith.
hawaii false missile alert... the people of hawaii ran home and closed their blinds and drapes, were you hoping the missile would think you weren't home.
it's a war head not a jehovah witness.....
@Giordano....those old ones are still the best
i grew up a jw, left at about 17 years old..(i'm 33 now) a little over a year ago i moved 1000 miles away from where i grew up.
today i "ran" into someone in the same congregation as my dad... like how is that even possible?!?!?
he was very kind, mentioned the borg but only in ways that related to his life.. his daughter is a pioneer, my dad gives "the best" comments at the meetings, my sister is awesome.. blah blah blah... .
its a sign...its a sign...
i couldn't bleedin' well resist it.
there were these 2 jobo blokes standing behind a jobot trolley.
jobo, 'what's that?'.
i wonder how many oldies will croak it through spending hours in the bitter cold standing guard over their precious carts.
not being a witness has been a plus for my sex life.
.
what about you!
Or the couple who came back off their honeymoon because they had meeting parts on the Thursday meeting.
i know of a newly married pioneer couple who went to a district assembly in Sheffield UK in 1968 for their honeymoon !
i was the husband !

Didnt Jah execute a man for masturbation in the old testament? Scared the crap outta me as a child.
i think youre referring to--Onan ( is it ? ). he spilled his seed rather than have Levirite sex with his dead brothers wife. it wasnt merely an act of masturbation--but refusing to obey the laws.
am i right guys ?
the may 2018 watchtower is now out and thought i would make a few observations.in this article we get a story about gb sam herd.
the recurring theme throughout is the struggles he has had as a black man.he was born in 1935 in a one roomed log cabin in liberty indiana.
his mother raised him in the baptist church.
has it become watchtower practice to run these life stories of GB members...if so--why ? bit of idolatry?

so why was he made a GB member ?
oh--i forget--the holy spirit did it.
just wondering if anyone has gone back to a meeting out of curiosity?
(perhaps to an area far from your old khall where you know no one).
with all the changes from 2012 onwards (videos, tv screens, new meeting format, new songs etc) it would be an odd experience to be in attendance!.
i remember a very funny incident.
i hadnt been near a kh for several years. i had recently re-married and my new wife was a bit curious about the cult--she had tried a study a few years before she met me.
anyway--there was a circuit assembly where we lived--and she wanted to go! so we went to the public talk--only prob--we went at 3:30--it had begun at 3. felt a bit silly walking in half way through--i knew i would be recognised..
after about 5 minutes she said to me--" is this it?--isnt there a service or hymns ?" i quietly explained it...so she decided she had had enough--and up she got! i sheepishly followed her out..
---------------------------------------------------------
some years later--one of her nephews was getting married in a KH--dunno how--very luke warm family. we were invited--and went L.O.L. that was over 20 years ago. never been since.
